FunTripsLIVE
is changing to adapt to a reorganization. It has been online since April of 1999,
has a solid audience, and has survived
the peaks and valleys on the cyber highway. We
look forward to once again working with travelers and
writers who can contribute and be part of our vibrant,
fun and rewarding future.
When the
time comes once again, we will
add independent, virtual, guides to each section of FunTripsLIVE. This will make the LIVE live
all the time instead of just during trips.
The guides
will be introduced to our audience and will be
permanently present on the website. They will
exude (and hopefully be) friendly, helpful and full of
life!
In the
beginning, this project will have intermittent
responsibilities, but as our website traffic continues
to grow, the workload will become heavier (and the
opportunities will become greater).
You can work
at home or on the beach if your wireless computer is
functioning, but you must at all times
feel a responsibility to our website visitors.
It is
helpful if you are someone with these characteristics.
1.
Enjoy doing minor research (sometimes on subjects you don't
really care about).
2. Are someone who is out and about in the community you
are representing so you know what's going on, what's new and
what's in the future.
3. Be familiar with online writing.
4. Be able to research quickly. You should know
where to find the answer (or if the answer is available) to any
question in approximately 5 minutes or less.
5. Have photography skills.
6. Be able to work independently but in concert with our
goals and objectives 'from afar.'
Responsibilities
1. Write a monthly newsletter
focused on the featured destination - usually 300-400 words.
Eventually the newsletter will be published weekly.
Information from the main newsletter which contains travel tips,
specials, announcements, etc. will be added to your
contribution. Your content will relate to news in the area
- restaurants openings, calendar events, real estate
developments, at least one 'secret' (very important) as you are
a local, and so on. These will be defined per area.
2. Sporadically, as
needed, write a short enthusiastic and personal article about
something in your area that travelers would find interesting or
insightful.
3. Respond promptly (same
day) to traveler questions. These are all over the board -
for example, right now I am trying to find out where the Mr.
Margarita Contest is held, who won and what recipe he used; this
from a visitor to the Cabo section (if you know,
help me out, OK?).
4. Blogs are being set up
and will be active in the near future. In the beginning
you will only be required to spend a few minutes on the blog
each day to contribute and answer any questions that may arise
about your area.
Your work will be owned by
FunTripsLIVE, LLC and we may distribute it over the internet for
promotional purposes, publish it in our electronic newsletter
and use it in our offline newsletter. Any articles you
write will always include your byline.
Payment Options
You will not be an employee of FunTripsLIVE,
but a Freelancer and Independent Contractor. This
is a contract/per item arrangement and you may choose your
payment options.
1. You can accept a flat rate for each newsletter of .10 a
word, $2.50 for each response you give a website visitor
question and $10 a month for the blog. As I mentioned above, at
this time there is not an over abundance of questions and the
blog is not active, but the questions are becoming more frequent
and the blog will be active soon (which is why I'm getting
helpers).

2. If you are
entrepreneurial and have sales skills we have other options that
might interest you. In this case your articles
become advertorial and your pay is 50% of the agreement you made
with the supplier. If you are interested in this option
(which is much more lucrative than the flat fee) please indicate
your interest in the appropriate place on the form.
So, is this you?
If so, please proceed to the
application.
