"Grande Dame of the
Rockies" is a fitting reference for this destination 5 star resort. Spencer
Penrose set out in 1916 to make the Broadmoor "the most beautiful resort in the world."
I think he may have done it.
Although the Broadmoor began as a
casino in 1891, it is now a truly luxurious respite. Your whims will
be granted.
You can play tennis or golf, work out in the
fitness center, take a hot air balloon ride, go fishing or
shopping, take a carriage ride, go biking, walking or running,
visit an art gallery, lounge around on the patio with a view of the
lake, or take a spa treatment. All this and you never leave the
resort!
If you're hungry, your choice is to grab a bite at
the Tavern or Espresso and Newstand, or make your selection from one of
the 10 other eateries. Elegant or casual, whatever your mood
desires.
Mr. Penrose knew what he was doing. He
guessed there would be some interest in Pikes Peak, so he built the
Pikes Peak Highway as an alternative to the Cog Railway and sponsored
the first auto race. He also established the Cheyenne Mountain
Zoo, the highest zoo in America.
Everything you need to know is at this website.
If you don't stay overnight, at least drop by for a drink on the patio.
