One of the fun
things about shopping in small towns is the discovery of
unique boutiques and locally made items.
Then again,
if you need to pick up a light jacket or a few thermals,
superstore prices are more appealing!
In Summit County, you get both, and the county has made it easy to
get to your shopping preference with the
Summit
Stage that takes you free of
charge to most shopping centers, ski areas, medical centers, and
even some residential areas in Summit County.
|
| Two major shopping areas are within a half hour ride from
Breckenridge, the
Dillon
Factory Stores and the
Silverthorne
Factory Outlets. If you're the shopper looking for
the unique boutiques, Breckenridge has them.
We've selected a few
to give you an idea.

Two sisters meet to ski and 'top' it off
with crazy ski
hats.
|
To see or be seen? Not a problem with these hats.
A fad? Maybe, but it's really the stuff that getaways are made
of - letting go and getting crazy!
These two sisters, one from San Diego, the other from Virginia, got
in the swing at
The
Breckenridge Hat Company, a must-visit, if you'd like to indulge in
a truly 'heady' experience!
|
You'll find hats in every category including crazy ski hats, traditional
knit ski hats, snowboard beanies, funky kid hats, celebration hats
cowboy hats, and, of course, ULLR hats.

The Twisted Pine
does not conjure
up images of fabulous fur and plushy leather, but after you know how it
originated, it works.
A
few years ago - 20 or so - JB (James Besterfeldt) and his buddy were out
one snowy day enjoying the mountains of Colorado. They were
discussing their new business idea to open a shop of imported furs
in what was then, the sleepy town of Breckenridge. In
the throes of considering the name of their new establishment, a gnarly
and twisted pine appeared in the path ahead. Need I say more? |

|
|
Today, the Twisted Pine offers the
richest, most distinctive fur and leather apparel in Summit
County. Shannon, the manager, assisted us in selecting a few
pieces to show you. Wrapping up in Sheared Beaver, Canadian Lynx
and Fox, I noted that shear luxury is surpassed only by
complete and uninterrupted warmth. |
|
|
A
discreet glance at the price tag told me the most expensive was on sale
for a little over $5,000. And, the reason these aren't on the
must-have list for a mountain adventure?
If you're in the market
for fur, try the Twisted Pine. The service is as classy as the
products they carry. |
|
If you're a name brand shopper, The Main Street Outlet is the place to
go if you want BIG BARGAINS on mountain wear. There are ski suits,
jackets, shells, shoes, boots, blankets, fleece, caps and hats for the
whole family.
Steve and Susan
Lapinsohn offer "service with a smile" as well as big savings.
Steve says the key to their success is "being able to offer top quality
products, name brands that people recognize and fantastic pricing".
Sample this. A
Hard Corps ladies shell that's waterproof, windproof, breathable and
seam sealed, normally retailing for $285. Get it at Main Street
for $184.95! Or how about a Columbia, Omnitech, 3-in-1, ski jacket
that retails for $250 - at Main Street, $179.95.
If you go there, pick
up a copy of the Guide to Ski the Summit, and look for a coupon for The
Main Street Outlet. You might get a free Breckenridge baseball
cap!
