We're
going to meet the man about a finger a little later this morning.
He's got something not just a little bit unusual, and something
that anybody who spends time in the mountains should have.
While we wait, we'll hike one block up from Main
Street to Ridge and have a cup of java at Mountain Java and Books, the
meeting place for Breck locals.
|
|
|
It's in an old Victorian, looking quite stately in the
snowy scene and even more inviting when we arrive inside.
|
 |
 |
The 7 year old coffee house serves up all your
morning needs - coffee, tea, bagels and muffins, a good book, the newspaper, classy gift items, and greeting cards.
Need lunch? Pick from a delicious assortment of croissants and
foccacia creations. Four computers in a small alcove at the
back are available for $6 an hour.
|
| If you do nothing else, it' a great place to people watch and feel
like you're part of the scene. As they say on their card,
"It's Grind For Your Mind."

Now...about that finger
Charlie Terrill
has the stride of a veteran mountain man. It's quick, confident
and energetic. He looks the part in his checkered shirt, cowboy
hat and heavy vest with the words
Get
The Finger embroidered in red. Over his shoulder is a
large bag containing the mysterious items.
Breckenridge has been Charlie's home for 30 years. An avid
skier, a developer and now a resourceful entrepreneur, Charlie's
enthusiasm is contagious, so we settle down to see the goods and hear
the story.

If you've
spent any time in cold weather, you know that gloves are a necessary
part of your gear. They are also a pain in the neck if you want to
snap a picture, get a dollar out of your pants, lather chap stick on your
lips, get your car keys, or any number of other must do's.
Then, when you finally get the job done, your glove is gone, lying in
the snow somewhere or being run over by a car.
Charlie has solved these problems with an enormous
breakthrough. He calls it Quickfinger®.
It's a glove with a zipper ingeniously placed between your thumb and
forefinger so when your hand needs out, it can get out without taking
off your glove! |
| The zipper is
designed to open all the way so you can get your entire hand out, or
partially for just the thumb and forefinger. It also serves as a
ventilator. Hands too cold? Unzip and blow in some hot
air. Too hot? Unzip and cool them down.
Other features include a
CUFF PULL, a strip of
material to help adjust the glove without stretching the wristband, a SNUG
TAB, allowing you to get your hand in snugly, a ZIPPER PULL, making the zipper easy to pull, a
VELCRO
HINGE HOLD, which stabilizes the fabric and makes the zipper easy
to pull, and a YKK COIL ZIPPER, a
self-mending slider.
The gloves are made of quality materials that keep your hands
comfortable with waterproofing and breathability features.
Charlie explains that the trick is learning how to zip and
unzip. After one short
lesson we are zipping like experts. He's thought of
everything.
Would you like to Get the Finger? Or perhaps you'd just like to
give it to someone.
Visit the QuickFinger®
website for the lowdown including a simple method for figuring out what
size you wear.
Tell Charlie we sent you. These gloves may well be the last
ones you'll ever buy! |
| Since we're on a shopping
spree, how about a look around? We saw some people wearing really
weird hats! That's NEXT! |
GO! |
