Zona Hotelier and our featured hotel -
The Sheraton Hacienda del Mar

Leaving the airport in our silver bullet truck, we head south toward Cabo San Lucas.  Because it is dark, the road is unfamiliar and we aren't sure how far to go, or where to turn off, we strain our eyes to see any hints of direction or whereabouts.

After a few miles, we pass San Jose del Cabo and then into the dark for what seems like many more miles into the Zona Hotelier (hotel zone), and discover that hotels are listed on the big white rectangular signs stuck on the side of the road.

We're looking for the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar, an impressive resort and spa where we'll begin and end our adventure.

We'll spend a few days photographing the Hacienda, before we move on to other quaint and romantic accommodations throughout the Baja.

Drive attentively in the Baja.  School kids, goats, COWS (especially at night) workers, and others are on the side of the road.

Some are waiting for busses and some are walking.  People do not have the right of way when driving; it is every man for himself.

The cows? They're just waiting to
see if you'll hit them!

Having driven about 15 miles, we spot the Sheraton sign - miss the turnoff -  turn around and head up the hill among elegant hotels before descending onto the grounds of the Sheraton. The Sheraton is
sprawled low, along the beach.

We hear the ocean waves crashing on the beach as we drive into the huge entrance.  The Spanish architecture is lit up with soft yellow lights, to welcome and relax us instantly.

After checking in and getting settled in our ocean view room on the second floor, we  take a stroll around to find dinner at the restaurant below.

is an outside/inside place.  We are seated outside next to the rail,
overlooking the pools, the beach and the ocean.

Of course we are there at night, but
here's how it looks in the daytime.

Hanging next to a half moon, is a gallery of stars shining brightly in the black Baja night.   Already we're being waited on, servers placing napkins on our laps, taking our drink orders and opening the menus.

Yes, I think we have arrived!
