Dining at Damiana, San Jose del Cabo

Aphrodisiacs for Dinner
We've heard of Damiana and it's reputation for making people fall in love with it's special drink.
We're already in love, but hey, what's a little reinforcement every once in awhile.

We stop buy for a drink to see if we might want to come back later for dinner.

We do.

LATER:  As we enter the tastefully decorated bar of Damiano, a romantic hush greets us.  I'm dressed in a tangerine and yellow sun dress, Dub's in white pants and a flowered shirt.

"Inside or on the patio?"  asks the host.

Choosing the patio, we pass through the bar and enter the dining room.  Seated at tables that are checker-boarding around the room are other couples, laughing and talking softly, their faces bathed in candlelight.

The clink of glass and scurry of the wait staff are muffled by the soft lights and strains wafting from the Mariachi quartet.

The patio in the afternoon.
Blow it up to see the details and imagine it at night!

"May I recommend one of our specialties?"  The waiter describes choices of abalone, steak, shrimp or lobster.

After making selections, we enjoy a glass of wine.  Guests nod and smile at each other, but everyone seems to be enjoying a private evening.

Soon the food arrives, deliciously prepared with the flare of elegance. At first the Mariachis are invisible, only the sounds of their guitars and singing are evident, but soon they appear at our table.

"May we sing you a song of love?" they offer, and launch into a romantic melody.

Intoxicated with the evening's ambiance, we decide to end the evening with a taste of the legendary Damiana liqueur.  It is complimentary with the meal.

"It is made from natural herbs of the Damiana plant ... an aphrodisiac," we are told with a knowing grin from the waiter as he delivers two small shots of the fragrant liqueur.  It is sweet with a flavor all it's own.

Did it work?  Well, you'll just have to try it for yourself.  A hint though; resisting romance at Damiana is futile, so be careful who you go with!

Goodbye Cabo
