Shopping in Cabo San Lucas

Shopping is more than a Beach Vendor
The guide book said "sophisticated shopping in Cabo San Lucas."  But all we see are t-shirts, trinkets and cheap clothes. We are on Marina Blvd, across from the marina - the main drag in Cabo San Lucas.

The street merchants are in full swing.  "Sir, don't you want to take the lady on a sunset cruise?"  "We have the biggest drinks in town," "Have you tried our shrimp?  They will make your mouth water."

We're callous now, so we just walk on by.

Turning onto Hidalgo, a side street, the mood changes, and we learn that side streets are the key to shopping.  Sure there is a big mall now, but if you're looking for the unique, the local and the less expensive, take the tip.  The farther away from the heart of town, the better the quality and the lower the price!

There are, I should mention, some nice jewelry stores, art galleries and a few shops on the Marina side that have quality goods.

"Fine quality - just what you want to take from Mexico," someone says.

Mercados - or markets - are wonderful places to shop for made in Mexico goods.  They are much like the beach vendors except they are offering their wares in a sort of flea market venue.

If you don't offer to barter, they'll start the process without you by offering great deals and low prices.

It's a game.  Make an offer!

A little further up Hidalgo Street is the town square, which is a quiet and picturesque spot with bushes and benches to take a break and cool your heels for a few minutes.

Across the street from the square is Mama Elis.  Inside is a Curio shop with a lot of nice pieces. Mama Elis and Curio shop, downtown Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
The Flower Cart is part florist and part shop.  A great place to buy frosty and colorful glasses. The Flower Mart is on the corner of Hidalgo and  Madera. Flower Cart shop, downtown Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Magic of the Moon:  My personal pick for clothes shopping. They have all the clothes I was looking for but couldn't find when we were planning the trip.  The fabrics are breezy and fun.  Styles for every occasion - dress up, dress down.  Pepita owns the place and everything is custom made.  You can order something wonderful before you go and have it ready when you get there!  See more of Pepita's great fashions here.

Other places to check out are The Cotton Club on Lazaro -  and Tropica Boutique - more good quality beachwear for men and women.

A good place to buy sundresses is Sol Sur, located beneath Viva Cabo Hotel next to the popular local hangout, Tanga Tanga - you'll see it.

For leather try the Gold Duck Leather Collection.

If you're a cigar smoker, you can get real Cuban cigars in just about any cigar store. Here's a rundown of a few Cigar Bars.

Enjoy your shopping in Cabo San Lucas!
