Owning  A Piece of Cabo San Lucas Mexico Real Estate

OverviewPhoto TourRequest A CDVisit The VillaBuying in Mexico

The Mexican government has established a way for foreigners to "own" property by creating a Mexican Trust.

What this actually means is that a Mexican bank establishes a trust in the "owners" name - good for 50 years.  The bank holds the title, while the "owner" has all the rights and benefits of ownership, including the right to live, rent, or sell.

A Reference Guide for Investors

The trust is automatically renewable and can be renewed for an indefinite number of times.

Title insurance is difficult to obtain and the Mexican government recognizes squatters rights, which could become an unwanted expense if you have to try to remove squatter.

Read about Fractional Ownership

Whether you are looking for a timeshare for a few thousand, fractional ownership, a simple condo for $100,000 or a villa for several million, the opportunity probably exists.

If you are contemplating buying a timeshare, be sure that you have a least a 5 day rescission period with NO penalties.

These are very basic guidelines, meant to get you thinking about further research.

It is highly advisable to become as educated as possible before entering into any agreements, and get legal counsel from someone thoroughly familiar with Mexican laws.  Disputes that arise may not be treated as fairly if you are not a Mexican citizen, as you might hope.On the bright side?  Many, many people are settling down happily in paradise.  You can too.

Cabo San Lucas, the East Cape, and much of the Baja are becoming popular for Americans and other nationalities to invest, create a new lifestyle and/or retire.
