Things to consider when selecting your lodging in
Cabo San Lucas

Party?  Fish? Seclusion? Beach? Explore?
Lodging may be your biggest expense when vacationing. There are many, many options.  Make sure you get what's right for you.

Some things to think about

  • How much do you want to spend per night?  You can spend as little at $59 to several hundred a night.

  • How do you want to spend your time - lying on the beach, golfing, fishing, taking day trips or partying?

  • Do you want to stay in one spot and veg?  (consider an all-inclusive).

  • Does the beach or the desert appeal to you?

  • Do you want to be around a lot of people?  Or not?

Beach, golf and fishing are readily accessible from most of the hotels on the beach in Zona Hotelier, a 15 mile stretch between the Los Cabos Airport and Cabo San Lucas downtown.  You can get transportation from the hotel to get downtown.  Go to the Map page and get your bearings on where things are.

If you are going to party, you are best staying right downtown.  There are plenty of hotels on the beach and you can walk everywhere.  If you choose one on the Marina, be prepared to be awakened early (5ish) as the fishing boats start revving up for the day.

Mediterraneo

We stayed at the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar, which was on the beach and had some of the most romantic restaurants I've ever seen.

For example, Mediterraneo, an open air restaurant with ceilings of airy fabric and candlelit tables, sits on the beach with the Sea of Cortez just footsteps away.  If you want to read about our experience, you can click here

If you're on a budget, don't discount the timeshare opportunities.  Regardless of all the bad-mouthing they get, you can get a night or two for as little as a 90 minutes presentation.  Some are high pressure, but the trend now is to be a little more subtle.  Who knows - you might find an opportunity.  We are timeshare owners and love the places we get to stay for very low cost each year.

Another great alternative for budget-conscious is the Cabo Inn. See our feature on that here.

Are you adventurous?  Read our feature on the seaside yurts for an exciting and affordable alternative!

Families and groups can benefit from staying in villas or houses for rent.  There are some outstanding opportunities available -  beautiful homes on the beach and in prime locations. Check out these examples.
