Cabo San Lucas Beaches
In Cabo...Life Is a Beach

Cabo San Lucas beaches are considered to be some of the most beautiful in the world. The water is clear and green and the waves washing white against the beach paint a romantic and almost surreal picture.

But, as beautiful as it all is, some beaches are extremely treacherous, especially on the Pacific side.  Sometimes just looking at the ocean is enough; sometimes it is essential.

One of the reasons people come to Los Cabos is to soak up the sun.  And Caboans (I made up that word) make it easy.  The hotels have fabulous pools that overlook the ocean, the beaches are lined with fun palapo bars and restaurants, and water taxis are ready to deliver passengers to secluded spots a short distance away.

Being people watchers, we have plans to plop down somewhere and see 'who's who.'  Here's a few of The Who's.

Hmmm, I wonder why there aren't more men on the beach?  Oh, now I remember.  They're the ones with the cameras.

Sure, go ahead.  Blow them up.

And for you ladies.  Here's our token man. He's European and quite willing to pose, I might add.

Well, what do you think?

On most ocean beaches, there's just so much to do.  You've got the bag loaded with lotions, towels, sunglasses, and books.   Then there's the cooler with drinks and snacks. You lie in the sun and try to find a comfortable place to read your book or magazine, but you've got oil all over your hands, the sun is too bright and the book makes a shadow on spots you want tan.  So you lie there until you can't stand it anymore and either take a dip in the ocean, move your chair/towel or leave.

In Cabo, you've got a lot more choices.  You can go kayaking, take a water taxi to see El Arco or visit Lover's Beach.  You can go snorkeling and diving, take a fishing charter, rent wave runners, or go windsurfing.  And don't worry about finding out how to do it.  The moment you step on the beach, the suppliers are in your face, all promising a grand time, a big fish, an experience of a lifetime and - but of course - the best deal.

While we are contemplating our next move, not one, but two of those vendors, catch us off guard and tempt us with a water taxi tour of El Arco - The Arch, which is Cabo's most famous landmark.  Since it's a can't miss experience, we barter our fare which starts at $10 and ends up at $7 each roundtrip.

Our guide promises to take us close so we can get good pictures.  He keeps his word.
